It should stop small arms fire (redundant if for a tank ;-), but I'd think the iron/steel alloy the manhole covers are made of would be brittle & shatter if hit by anything high velocity. Would be better off with logs… ;-) |

There will be TONS of now redundant armour plate lying around… but they might not have capability to use it.

I have a copy at the office of a NATO ATP on improvised protection in urban combat. Manhole covers make an early appearance in that :) |
