Troops of one of the assault brigades of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have destroyed an enemy tank in Kherson Oblast, in spite of the fact that the occupiers had added extra "protection" to the vehicle with stolen sewer hatches…

Something new to model on your tanks? grin

It should stop small arms fire (redundant if for a tank ;-), but I'd think the iron/steel alloy the manhole covers are made of would be brittle & shatter if hit by anything high velocity. Would be better off with logs… ;-)

There will be TONS of now redundant armour plate lying around… but they might not have capability to use it.

Somewhere in occupied Ukraine there is probably a night patrol finding out the hard way where those came from!

Or may be pro-Putin schill driving home from the office?

I guess the sever covers were kinda shitty armor ?

Oldgrumbler09 Nov 2022 7:59 p.m. PST

Manhole covers sound like good armor if you are a Greek fighting Romans.

I have a copy at the office of a NATO ATP on improvised protection in urban combat. Manhole covers make an early appearance in that :)
