It had been a little while since I had gotten a WW2 game to the table, so I decided to have a go at the example scenario in Bob Cordery's The Portable Wargame; please see here for details: link

That's a cool 6mm game kit Whirlwind, and the system got you right down into the action.

Even though you're playing on a game on a portable size board, it seems most capable of involving combined-arms units and tactics (at least decision-making about these).

Glad you liked your results, and maybe you'll get some answers to those rules questions you have remaining.

Yes, cool looking game.

Great stuff, John, and a great idea. I've certainly come to realize (after spending thousands on 15mm figures and terrain) that I play far fewer games with bigger stuff requiring longer setup/takedown, and many more with smaller stuff that's much quicker to setup/take down.

It's good to see you playing, I appreciate you sharing with us.

Jack

Thanks very much Jack. And I think I am the same – at least where I am in my life at the moment, I need to concentrate on the smaller and quicker.

Very nice. I am starting to appreciate the smaller scales as well.

A great adaption of the original scenario … and some great looking models and terrain!

I look forward to reading more of your battle reports in due course.

All the best,

Bob Cordery
