Finally, I have the time to drop the Shieldwall markers post!

As usual, there are plenty of pictures, including the mass effect of having a few markers in front of a few units, and more detail on my Just Add Water Blog here:

As some may have gleaned, I'm not really a fan of clutter, chits or card/paper on the tabletop and to that end I have been slowly adding a number of Gripping Beast Shieldwall Markers from their Mid/Late Saxon range:
grippingbeast.co.uk/SAX09_Saxon_Ceorl_Shieldwall_4--product--2838.html

I was not that impressed with just one marker placed in front of a single unit, they seemed to command the view of the unit, dominating the scene. It was interesting to pull a few units out and get an idea of what they will look like en masse, when placed on front of a six/seven unit line on the tabletop.

Overall, I'm quite pleased with the results, they definitely look better to the fore of several units and not quite so dominant which was a relief! :D

Shieldwall Markers (The latest two, the tally is now three so plenty more to paint up):

Magnificent! What a beautiful army! I can see them holding Stamford Bridge or standing on Senlac Hill against all comers. This is what gaming with miniatures is all about.
By the way, they are perfect for a "To the Strongest" army.
Three cheers and a hornful of ale!

Thank you Legionarius, it's very kind of you to say so.

The miniatures are based so's to maximise the rulesets Off the top of my head, I could use them for WAB, Swordpoint, Impetus. To the Strongest and Dux Bellorum.

Those look striking, with rich and vibrant colours which will look great on the table.

I like the shield with the piece bitten out, doubtless while in a berzerkergang

Cheers mate. Appreciated.

Thanks. The idea wasn't really that the chap had developed a taste for linen wood. more that his shield was damaged. Those things don't seem to have had a very long life in actual combat.
