I have decided to start building a flotilla of Arab Dhows for 54mm figures in my Sudan Campaign battles. This follows up on the paddle wheel boat that I recently constructed.

click on the link to my blog (Der Alte Fritz Journal) to read the short tutorial on how I made my dhow:

Nice conversion of the hobby lobby boat. I did up 4 of them adding a deck, sails and guns for Limeys and Slimeys.

Great job, Jim.

And for those who want to do something similar, here's a bunch of ship ideas from the old Major General's web site, courtesy of the Way Back machine.

We rode a dhow a couple times in Bahrain and the only thing I remember about it, other than the little hut on the stern with a hole in the bottom, was the deck was arched to provide strength.

BTW, you should put a Welsh expatriate on that Dhow as the captain.
