I've just finished the Battalion command base for my representation of the 4 KSLI in Normandy, part of 11th Armoured Division. As is the modern trend, I've tried to make this a diorama, telling a bit of a story – in this case, doing what the British did all the time in the middle of battle (at least according to Hollywood) and stopping for tea.
This necessitated some scratch building – nobody makes a No.12 camp stove and kettle in 15mm, as far as I know, and all the Peter Pig radiomen are walking about or lying prone so I needed a TYpe 18 radio too.
I'm basing these up for a set of battalion-scale rules that I'm trying to write which will have platoon, company and battalion HQs all playing a role and needing to be represented and distinguishable on the table so I've used round bases of increasing diameter and number of figures. In the meantime I'm enjoying 'O' Group.
Here is one of the infantry squad bases. I've got one more normal platoon to finish and the carrier platoon for the full battalion, albeit accepting using old figures painted some years ago and on a different basing scheme for the infantry of one company.
