Hello everyone ,

What do you think is the most beautiful miniature to play the King Kong of the 2005 movie with 28mm sailor miniatures?

The Gorilla of Rebor is very beautiful but it is at rest…

No ideas ?

Thanks.

Check out low cost toy stores. They often have plastic gorillas that might be suitable. I have several.

Wizkids/dnd has this gorilla for $15 USD and is a decent size. link

Thank you all,
This Gorilla must be very beautiful and especially not at rest…
I want him in combat stance.
No ideas?
Thanks.

It's going to come down to how tall do you want the gorilla to be?

This Kong gorilla is about 11" tall and is poseable. link

This one is better looking and looks menacing at 10.4" tall. link

Thank you but neither of them are suitable.

Paskal, if you can tell us WHY they aren't suitable, it will be easier to find on that is.

Worth keeping in mind that Kong is not a consistent scale: he's smaller on Skull Island than he is in Manhattan. This was remarked on at the time of the film's release. I believe you'll find it's true of the original movie as well.

Nice Find Major Mike I like those two options.

Also Bandit86 I like those Brigade Games crew figures. Some over at Pulp Figures will work.

Thank you ,I have them on the other hand I found references of 5 sailors of the kind of those of the SS Venture ship, all with Thompson M1928 submachine guns -reference CEC11 or CECII and I no longer know which manufactures they are!!!

If a 28 mm figurine represents a man 1m80 from the top of the head to the soles of the feet, it is at 1/64.28 scale okay? The King Kong that interests me being the one from 2005 which officially measures 7m 62, so so I need "a King Kong" of 11cms 80 …) .

I have venatosaurus and vastatosaurus at 1/35 scale (by the way my venatosaurus at 1/64.28 scale would measure 6m42 and my vastatosaurus 28m28, the latter are therefore twice as long…) So second solution, I need figurines of SS Venture sailors and a 1/35 scale King Kong figurine, i.e. sailor figurines of around 5cm and a 21cm 77 King Kong, we can't get out of it, I must either sacrifice my sailor figurines from 28mm or my animals at 1/35th…

I think I'm going to keep my sailor miniatures.

Well, we're not likely to be accurate within tenths of a millimeter, but I'm pretty sure there's a toy store gorilla at 4-5".
This one's just a little large
link
And this one just under the minimum height
link

But I think either one would be close enough for game purposes.

I had it both as well as that of "Rebor", but the problem with them is the position, it absolutely must be in combat position, otherwise it's ugly.

robert piepenbrink Supporting Member of TMP29 Oct 2022 6:51 a.m. PST

You know, Paskal, you could have said five days ago "I need a 5" tall gorilla model standing on its hind legs." I refuse to discuss the aesthetics of gorilla posture.

Paskal Supporting Member of TMP30 Oct 2022 3:53 a.m. PST

I didn't say it because it's self-evident…

Alas anyway for the moment there isn't any at 1/35th scale, nor at 1/56th scale, nor at 1/64. 28th scale.

That's it I found one at AliExpress, he is on all fours and in this position measures 15cms high… But it is a copy of Rebor's but with articulated limbs, once standing he is the right size to face the Vestatosaurus…

snurl102 Nov 2022 9:28 p.m. PST

A game called 100 Kingdoms had a great Gorilla mini that would fit perfectly as a 28mm Kong.

Thank you, if you can find a picture, thank you !

Paskal Supporting Member of TMP13 Nov 2022 4:16 a.m. PST

The King Kong that I found one at AliExpress, is therefore on all fours and in this position measures 15cms high, when it is standing it is 18. I have to find one that is 21 or better 22 cms when it is is standing … It must also look like the one from 2005. If you have any ideas, thank you.

The H Man03 Jan 2023 2:36 p.m. PST

Where were you all in 2005???!!!

link

The problem has already been solved by playmates.

A line of action figures for the film were released.

The bulk of the range consisted of cardrd blisters consisting of a creature and about 4-5 40mm(??) humans.

The range was pretty vast. You had all the main cast, plus natives, possibly some extra crew also. Though I think they were all skull island based.

You also had much bigger, more accurate Kong figures, and some of the other creatures also.
