Gents, Figured this was the more timely board (as opposed to late ancients or middle dark ages) to post this "copy" of the historical battle. Here is the link: link Thanks for your time and comments, Chris |

I did not see Uthred? Very interesting to me as I had not heard of this battle until I read Warlord. Thanks it helped me a good deal. H |

I have run Brunanburh many times… My take on it for DBA 3 is here… link This also is a great source: Michael Livingstone, The Battle of Brunanburh…General Editor It also makes a pretty good though small convention game. Just 4 players, but a good get people interested. Joe Collins |

Gents, Thanks for taking the time to read and offer a comment. Appreciate it. Yeah, sorry about leaving out Uthred . . . Again, I was just using the historical battle and accounts as a kind of template. I was not trying to accurately reconstruct the battle. Joe, thanks for the link and recommendation. If I may, how do feel the rules address the "shieldwall" slog? Cheers and thanks again, Chris |

Here are some of my thoughts… link This is from Keith McNelly's excellent gaming site. The photos are from a Brunanburh game. Joe Collins |

Joe, Thanks for weighing in again. Certainly food for thought . . . No argument on the excellence of KM's blog. His ancient battle reports are spectacular. He certainly sets the bar high! Cheers, Chris |
