I have been watching this for the first time and I just wanted to share how much I love this scene:

I loved the Sharpe series!

Yes, that scene is a favorite. The Sharpe villains are always true bad guys and we love seeing them get their comeuppance.

The earlier episodes (the siege of Badajoz was the best of the lot) were much more convincing than the later ones, which often, in my opinion, descended into hokum.

I always enjoyed that episode too!

For seeing all the TV shows (on line) years ago and only into 1/3 of the books the books are way better, probably as the TV shows didn't have budget a full movie would. But reading them can't help be in mind see the shows characters.

I enjoyed the Sharpe books and the TV series but the TV version of Sharpe's Waterloo is still the worse version of that great battle I've seen, so far. Unless anyone knows of another disappointing TV/film version?

I was also disappointed with the latest Sharpe book offerings, especially Sharpe's Assassin. Incredibly boring!

I stopped reading after Spain.

The trouble is the stories are so predicable. His ACW works use the same formula.

Gazzola's right, the Waterloo episode is the worse depiction of the battle I've seen.

Just discovered that there is a new Sharpe novel on the horizon – Sharpe's Command. But it is shown as not being available until 28th September, 2023! Talk about advance publicity. LOL

Still, the publication date will give me plenty of time to get through my unread mountain of titles and it is on my to buy list.

I think the latest novel was due out earlier than 2023 but has been delayed until next year, due to a variety of reasons, some of them due to the author's health I believe. Still, something to look forward to, if you are a Sharpe fan and nice to see the background is set during the Peninsular War and not after Waterloo.
