As we do every year at this time, the Memsahib and I
celebrated with a magnificent dinner, a toast to
longevity and a sense of wonderment at the tragedies
which befall at this time of year. For the world, Bongolesia itself. For we twain, our
marriage 22 years ago. [looks nervously over shoulder]
Not of course that tragedy attains in any form to our
blessed union – nay, a thousand times nay ! But I do wonder why my application for an emigration
visa to Bongo-land keeps getting lost, which is what
the Bongolesian Consulate keeps telling me (along with
requests for additional payment of 'fees due')… |
