Before the doom and gloom that followed 9/11, things were generally optimistic as the collective American society came off the absolute high of the late 1980s, we had American families still gathering around the television in the evening to watch the best of what cable had to offer.

Compared to the seventies, the nineties were an optimistic time for military-themed television, as the victory achieved in the 1991 conflict in the Persian Gulf had given the military a facelift that was much-needed after the end of the Vietnam War…"

Again the critics and I disagree. For action and content I would rate "Space:Above and Beyond" just below "Sharpe" and above the others. Tastes vary.

Never got into space adventures much after Star Trek, but of course watch all and now slowly getting through the Sharpe series

SAAB was a wonderful show.

Very implausible to have highly trained space-fighter pilots being used as grunts, but when watching Sci-Fi, sometimes logic and "realism" need to be suspended.

Just enjoy the ride.

LOL! Yeah, that hammering on SAAB was like watching someone kick your puppy. But to be honest, it really wasn't THAT great of a show. Sharpe's Rifles was vastly better.

SAAB was an awesome show, I was really disappointed that it was canceled, and I watched it while on Active duty in the Marine Corps.
