hello everyone, At 1/72 scale, where to find M4A2 sherman (and other vehicles) for the "Free French" in 1944-1945 (and their appropriate decals)? Thank you |

The Heller M4A2 is unbeatable at its price. But so many other M4 variants used. Everything but the M4A4 and M4A1 76 in practice. You will need M5 Half tracks, M7 105 SP guns, M3A3 light tanks, M10 TDs, M8 and M20 armoured cars, M8 HMC, Deuce and a half, etc etc. Serge69's links to the decals is ideal. What are now called japmodels (I forget the old name) present a huge range, but thye are a bit small for 1/72 (or even 1/76 I think) Aleron are good. Peddinghaus look terrific on the backing paper but are dreadful when applied. Yellow is completely transparent and totally invisible on Olive Drab |

My usual kvetch. There are Free French units with reclaimed 1940 tanks and some with captured German gear. There's nothing illegal or immoral about gaming with what amounts to a standard US 1944-45 unit with unusual markings, but it adds no variety to the tabletop. You might want to keep the more exotic possibilities in mind going forward. |

Thank you all and if there are other "Free French" transfers at 1/72 scale, that interests me. |

I have some background in this and would be happy to help in detail, if I know what you want. Please feel free to PM me if this is a genuine request |

You are very welcome. There are so many folk on this site only to happy to help. There are many makers of "Free French" (I use the " as there is a very strict definition of such in France) markings, models and figures (mostly US Army Uniforms but occasionally with a forage cap, sailor's bacchi, or kepi, even an Adrian helmet) I do so want to tackle my attic stock, many in 1/35 now, but Waterloo Remodelled dominates everything |

@deadhead Sorry but I only attend TMP, because otherwise this type of activity becomes too time-consuming. |

Not sure I understand. 18 months on it is nice to get a response to my offer to help. But I cannot understand; "this type of activity becomes too time-consuming." You post so many requests for a truly incredible range of topics, over what are almost millennia, it does make it hard to help you. |

That is a great find that I will go back to. I have lost count of the number of Heller M4A2s that I have made. I am surprised he used the out-of-register transfers (which were eventually corrected by Heller). Such attention to detail, I had hoped to see how he added the tow cable, universal on this tank, but not here. But many great tips. Thanks |

Sat through it again and surprised that, after such huge efforts for detail, there are some basic errors. This is Brive la Gaillard of 12eme Cuirassiers and it should carry that name beneath the divisional insignia. Heller provide that script. Worse though, he has stuck the coaxial 30 calibre on the wrong side of the gun mantlet. That hole is for a gun sight. The hole on the left is for the MG. The music needs turning down/off. Yet he has done some great detailing with brass products and textures. Well worth a view |
