He produces a wonderful range of 1/72 Napoleonic figures and has sent me many to add to Waterloo Remodelled. He does some very unusual poses which add greatly to the masses of traditional commercially available figures. Dismounted cavalry, wounded and fallen soldiers, battlefield detritus, command sets etc

Actually, you have done me a big favour here, by sending me back to Hagen Miniatures. I suddenly noticed dismounted hussars. Just what I need to add some variety to the Chasseurs a Cheval for the Duty Squadron. Order in today!

Hello Mr D.

Hagen are excellent but the work here is actually from my friend Thomas Mischak's own massive Waterloo diorama .

It is a sight to behold, as is Jame's.

Best wishes,

Chris

Thomas's diorama is fantastic. Liam, glad you made it to those Hagens – I should have mentioned them!

Funny thing about LHS. I guess it was the Airfix model that created the impression that it was "compact", but, in practice, the footprint of LHS is almost a perfect match for that of the building complex at Hougomont. The Great Barn is massive (and "Great") and, nice bit of research by your pater, did not extend as far east as it does now. You have it right there.

and yes, Hagen deserve a "plug" here.

West, not East. I was nearly right…….

From Jac Weller's book, as it is seen now;

@Siborne
I just noticed the Redcoats within LHS. What unit do they represent? Just curious, as afaik the KGL and Lüneburger did not wear red.

Personal logo deadhead Supporting Member of TMP11 Oct 2022 7:10 a.m. PST

One company of 5th KGL (75 men) in red coats and possibly some of them armed with Baker Rifles?

Here I did them in 28mm

Superb!…

The joy of the Airfix model is that, for wargamers (rather than diorama makers) it recreates the "feel" of the real farm, but at a reduced footprint. Remember, an average Wargame unit of 700 men/36 figures, may be less than a foot long in line. So Wargames building has often work better in a slightly shrunken look.

The Airfix farm can also be kit bashed to make some of the other buildings on the battlefield

Marc… so long I don't hear about you…

Really happy to read your lines!… (smile)

Yes, I will second that.

We did miss Marc the Plastics Fan.

and I loved the Airfix LHS. I bought three over the years and, one of them, I tried to convert to nearer the real thing. It was indeed massive and I gave up

Return of the King.

Gladdens my heart for the New Year to see M the PF back again.

I get confused about Hagen Miniatures. Somehow I had the idea it is a collective effort for folk like Frank Ziegler or Thomas Mischak to sell their superb products, rather than making its own range.

And a happy new year to you Liam. We looked for you at the Army Museum on the day as I'd heard you were to be there but…

Well someone took this photo. I do recognise the cute little blonde, but not the grey-haired balding old guy with her.

Return of the King is right (except for Mateus). Liam you are wicked.

Mr Marc I'm keen for some more 1/72 posts. As much as I like our dominant brothers I've never been able to shake 1/72. I'm usually a bit of a lurker but could I ask what you have been up to?

It has gotta tell you summat when the reappearance of one contributor get so many responses.

OK we get folk Dawghawsed and banished and such unpleasantness etc, but some individuals really do regularly add to this site.

MtPF tried to convince me that plastics were not just for kids. Now I am convinced, but only because I am back into 1/72 (reluctantly I do admit and every single of my 28mm figures is now given away) and I also discovered they are not all Airfix 1970s.

I only wish Zvezda were not so good. I found a box of Cuirassiers in York two weeks ago. Blew the dust off them (they had fallen down the back of the pile) and ran to the till with them, before someone else saw them. A fight might have broke out, as they were at their pre war price.

Marc the plastics fan01 Jan 2023 10:38 a.m. PST

Cossacks – why thank you, it's nice to know one is missed

I have had a busy year helping my son with his 28mm Naps, but I did some 8th Army in my one true scale. This year I will get the DAK done and get a game of Battlegroup Tobruk started.

And my Naps – Austrian cuirassier are first in the paint table for this year.

I post a lot over on Facebook – not having a blog etc I find not being able to post pictures here quite frustrating…

Tango0101 Jan 2023 3:31 p.m. PST

Good new year if Marc is with us again… (smile)
