Hi, looking at figures to buy for my first foray into Napoleonics (Peninsular Campaign) and I was curious if anyone has experience with the Old Glory 15s (*NOT* Old Glory Miniatures) and Battle Honors ranges? I see on the website they have "packs suitable for Lasalle" from the regular Old Glory range that have 32 figures "including command" for about $13 USD, and the Battle Honors (I think these are slightly larger?) are generally 24 with command for $15. USD This is my first time buying 15mm figures, so needless to say I am not used to the nuances of it. Can anyone who has used these packs answer a question? Does "including command" mean one standard or two for the British since battalions had both the King's Colours and the Regimental Colours if I'm not mistaken? Also, is there a noticeable difference between these ranges, or anything, in particular, I should know about the proportions/details of one versus the other? I saw that for some of the Battle Honors figures, the flag is sculpted (e.g. "Line Infantry, Stovepipes, Advancing") while for others it looks like it has a blank flagpole where you can add your own flag (e.g. "Line Infantry, Stovepipe, Campaign Dress, Assaulting"). Confused but at the same time excited. :) - Wayne |

Typically 50 foot, 16 Cavalry, 6 guns and 24 gunners If the have command it is usally 2 sets of flag, officer and musician abd NCO. "Pure" command are 24 figures (6 sets) Flags are not scuplted, just a flag pole I have several thousand. I like them :) |

Hmm, that is good to know. I may need to email them to find out specifically for the packs that they sell, just to make sure. -Wayne |

Check out deepfriedhappymice.com for scan comparisons. There are tons of discussions on these two ranges on the net, if you look about. Old Glory 15s get mixed reviews—some think they are too rough and poses too energetic, while others think they paint up more realistic as a result. Battle Honors is the range originally sculpted by Tony Barton of the AB range fame (long, complicated story, but essentially he abandoned the BH range and then started AB range, which is now owned by Eureka Miniatures though Tony B. supposedly still sculpts new figures)—they are slightly smaller 15mm figures (because a few decades old, now) than the bigger figures exemplified by AB, Blue Moon, Lancashire, and a couple others. Hardcore painting enthusiasts swear by AB figures, and Campaign Game Miniatures from Spain are a close second to them. Snobs, lol, but these are gorgeous though expensive figures. Old Glory IMHO are terrific value and look good on the table. Blue Moon (by Old Glory 25s) are sort of in-between in "quality" and in price. The Blue Moon range overall is still incomplete, though most of the basics are done. If cost were not an issue at all, I agree with most that AB are the way to go. If cost is a big deal, the Old Glory 15s are a great option. If I didn't like either end of that spectrum, I could buy Blue Moon (using the "Old Glory Army" discount card) and also be very happy. Minifigs Nappies are really nice, but too damn expensive and hard to get in the USA. |

You might want to check out the Old Glory 15s website, their packaging has changed recently. The Old glory Napoleonics have 48 figures in a package of infantry, 18 riders and horses for cavalry and 5 guns with 15 crew for artillery. Battle Honors Napoleonics are 24 figures in an infantry pack, 9 riders and horses for cavalry and 3 guns with 12 crew for artillery. |

I emailed them to ask specifically about the LaSalle premade packs and they replied it would have 2 standard bearers for British. Now I need to decide between OG15, Battle Honors or Blue Moon (which I do like but have no premade unit packs and also don't have any Portuguese) I am definitely not used to having a choice for miniatures -Wayne |
