Your predictions, does Putin… 1. Take his own life? 2. Sudden medical retirement? 3. Assassinated by his own people? (This could be the ever-popular accident…) 4. Flees to a country with no extradition with his stolen from Russia fortune? 5. Cling to power in spite of everything and live out his days? |

The fun thing is, it doesn't have to bee one of these. Weird, weird things happen in war. Yamamoto was killed by P-38s. Napoleon was exiled to Elba and that was the end of that. Alcibiades had a good run, well, several good runs. Putin could end up in charge of just part of Russia. He could disappear and we might enjoy periodic sightings and theories about where he is and what he's up to. All kinds of possibilities. I'm not trying to do smart-mouth premise rejection, I just can't get myself to commit to one of these. Too many possibilities. It's a complex system, and it's hard to tell which part or parts is going to snap first, and which way the dominoes will go. |

He fell out of an FSB car, over a bridge, onto a railway line, and was run over by the Moscow Express. It was an accident. (apologies to 'Allo 'Allo for nicking their line). |

5. There are enough of the old USSR traditions to let him finish his times. The only ones assassinated were the ones who lost the game like Trotsky and Beria. |

6. Putin blames someone else. "The president didn't just sit there and think, why don't I start a special operation. Someone told him that Ukrainians will surrender, that they will flee, that they'll want to join Russia. Someone had to be telling him all this," he added. Fox News: link |

I suspect 5. I like #6, blame someone else for it all, purge a few people, cause a few more accidents, and then hunker down. Steal what he can from Ukraine and try and annex some of it and hope he can at least hold on to Crimea. I keep thinking he will ask for an armistice this winter, keep all the land he still occupies, hoping the weak and fickle west will let him keep what he has and absorb it into Russia. With the lure of cheap oil and natural gas. What I want is for Ukraine to kick Russia out of their country by force and maybe even capture a few Russian bits for compensation. That may cause him to fall out a window but I don't thing anything less will. Mike Bunkermeister Creek |

Surprising that the Secret Polar Base has had no mention… must be being kept Secret! I suspect he will stay in Power… he's that sort of guy. But likes doing the unexpected… might just retire? Or go out with a Bang! (Though pretty sure it would not be carried out.). There seems to be VERY little speculation over who would 'replace' him. Have they ALL fallen out of windows? |

Is it to early to say "war crimes"? Not in this case … But sadly, many including Putin will never be punished. At least in this life.
