Your predictions, does Putin…

1. Take his own life?

2. Sudden medical retirement?

3. Assassinated by his own people? (This could be the ever-popular accident…)

4. Flees to a country with no extradition with his stolen from Russia fortune?

5. Cling to power in spite of everything and live out his days?

The fun thing is, it doesn't have to bee one of these. Weird, weird things happen in war. Yamamoto was killed by P-38s. Napoleon was exiled to Elba and that was the end of that. Alcibiades had a good run, well, several good runs. Putin could end up in charge of just part of Russia. He could disappear and we might enjoy periodic sightings and theories about where he is and what he's up to. All kinds of possibilities.

I'm not trying to do smart-mouth premise rejection, I just can't get myself to commit to one of these. Too many possibilities. It's a complex system, and it's hard to tell which part or parts is going to snap first, and which way the dominoes will go.

3.

A true Russian hero will do it! Most likely a veteran of the Ukraine war.

5 its bunker time for Putin

He fell out of an FSB car, over a bridge, onto a railway line, and was run over by the Moscow Express. It was an accident.
(apologies to 'Allo 'Allo for nicking their line).

5, followed by a 3 or a coup.

5. He's got unlimited funds for bribes to prop himself up.

FearAndLoathing12 Sep 2022 11:24 a.m. PST

He's made so many enemies, I've read that the minute he's out of office, 3 is likely to happen.

5 for me too, but I hope I am wrong!

5. There are enough of the old USSR traditions to let him finish his times. The only ones assassinated were the ones who lost the game like Trotsky and Beria.

6. Putin blames someone else.

"The president didn't just sit there and think, why don't I start a special operation. Someone told him that Ukrainians will surrender, that they will flee, that they'll want to join Russia. Someone had to be telling him all this," he added.

3 … and the sooner the better …

I suspect 5. I like #6, blame someone else for it all, purge a few people, cause a few more accidents, and then hunker down.

Steal what he can from Ukraine and try and annex some of it and hope he can at least hold on to Crimea.

I keep thinking he will ask for an armistice this winter, keep all the land he still occupies, hoping the weak and fickle west will let him keep what he has and absorb it into Russia. With the lure of cheap oil and natural gas.

What I want is for Ukraine to kick Russia out of their country by force and maybe even capture a few Russian bits for compensation. That may cause him to fall out a window but I don't thing anything less will.

Surprising that the Secret Polar Base has had no mention… must be being kept Secret!

I suspect he will stay in Power… he's that sort of guy. But likes doing the unexpected… might just retire?
Or go out with a Bang! (Though pretty sure it would not be carried out.).

There seems to be VERY little speculation over who would 'replace' him. Have they ALL fallen out of windows?

Druzhina12 Sep 2022 5:56 p.m. PST

2. Novichok or Polonium.

re CNN – petition posted on twitter, that couldn't be fake!

If Putin dies…

…PM Mishustin would become acting president and elections would be held, but experts say the substance of a post-Putin Russia is tough to predict.

I did see one commentator suggest that Russian exceptionalism was the problem as much as Putin and that's going to be 'a thing' even if Putin did 'brutally stab himself while shaving'.

OSCS7413 Sep 2022 7:27 a.m. PST

He will die probaly by cancer but, rumors will spread that was an assassination. Because that is the way MSM works today. What they want to happen is more important than what actually happened.

Is it to early to say "war crimes"?

Not in this case … But sadly, many including Putin will never be punished. At least in this life.

I tend to agree but if Hague does try to prosecute then Russia will remains a Pariah state until he passes.

Yes, very well deserved being considered a Pariah state …
