I am about to print some medieval flags and banners on plain paper and since it isn't waterproof ink I was wondering what might be a good method to do some weathering on the flags. Thanks |

I'd try varnishing them first (and I'd do a test on one in case it didn't work…). |

Make copies on a good printer and test. I did that with some WSS flags. I used very similar paper and let the printer / copier ink dry for a couple of days. I couldn't get the effect I wanted becasue the varnish makes the inlk run and not stick well. |

Hit with matte finish, or buy a "workable fixative" from an art supply shop. |

You might also look around the craft store for patterned or weathered-looking paper to print your flags on. Pre-weathering, as it were. |

As above I hit with Matte Varnish then paint the edges and weather. Works great. |

Try a laser printer. That print is waterproof. |
