You were asked – TMP link

You might not know that the famous fantasy card game was also responsible for a line of miniature figures. Do you play Magic the Gathering today? Did you ever?

Missed the poll. I still play. I have 60,000 cards and constantly expanding.

How do you keep track of that many cards?

Never got into playing, but I have lots of cards. They're pretty much worthless, should have spent the money buying savings bonds…

Had fun with it when it first came out, we had a closed league at work. I still have my cards around here somewhere.

I think I also have some of the figs here somewhere…

I never dipped my toe into MTG, tho our FLGS did host some card based games in which I participated. Cards, card packs, boosters, mana stones, the whole shebang. They were pretty enjoyable, tho none caught on.

I use an online inventory/deck builder site plus I made a custom spreadsheet for myself.

MtG is the most supported game online. The fandom is insane. I'm a casual budget player and hangout on like minded reddit pages. There is a great reddit page where we build decks from $1 USD to a max of $5. USD Another where we build Jumpstart decks. Another for cheap Commander decks, many $15. USD So many cheap ways to play without dealing with those stereotype tournament players.

When it came out, I thought it was a good game but hated the collectible card aspect of it. So only played with friends who could loan cards.

Back in 90s some friends would organize about 8 of us for a game night and "to make it fair" each would chip in and they would buy new packs (a box? case?), then all cards would shuffle around the table to build decks. Fun times. After the game night, those guys were always confused when I would say here, someone take my cards.

I wish I had bought magic cards instead of going back to school to get my teaching certification, back when Alpha was out. My freinds told me to me not to buy any because I was in school, taught school for a year and it was a total loss. Now if I had bought the Magic cards back then instead, and had acquired all the Moxes and Black lotus that my friends were getting, with the money I paid for tuition, I could have bought a house now with that money from the cards. I play a little with my kids now, but its not the same.
