I've painted up the lovely set of AB Figures British tank crew bailing out to use in photographs to illustrate the Chain of Command AARs on the blog. As always with AB, these are very expressive figures that all help tell the story. More pictures of these and the German set here link

Now you just need to "sacrifice" a couple of tanks to make ones that are brewed up.

For the Sherman at lest, you need to have the gun pointing straight forward; if it's at an angle it can block one or other of the hull hatches. A true, if chilling, detail courtesy of Stan Perry of the Sherwood Rangers.

Ah, one step ahead of you there….

This really has inspired me to get back to finishing some of the 20mm (1/72) AFVs in my attic, as 2eme DB Free French. The last image is great painting, but I think it is a bit late to be pulling out any survivors, to judge by the charring and blackening. I do love the effect though.

The AB figures would make great 501e RCC with their black berets, however. I will then have to decide where to drill a hole (or two) with some "splash" around it. Yes, I really must. Too much Waterloo Remodelled right now. I need a break.

This is truly beautiful work. What tank kit brands do you prefer?

For gaming the PSC and Armourfast models are affordable, quick to build and strong enough to be handled, but they often lack detail (Armourfast) or have detail over-scale to prevent it being too fragile (PSC). With a bit of extra work they can be built into nice looking models.

If you want something with better detail then kits from the likes of Revell , UM, IBG, Vespid and ICM are all very good but not all will stand up to too much handling.
