Following the glorious success of his Blenheim game back in February, Matt took us to Ramillies this week. You can see lots of photos of his beautiful layout on his "Pushing Tin" blog, where he reports a previous playtest: link My report of the more recent game is on the BBBBlog: link |

great looking game. BBB works for any massed battle period it seems. |

Not played BBC Don't at the moment collect 6mm. However I have to say, Chris, it comes across that you make an awesome effort to support and promote the rules. I for one am really impressed. |

Oh and I do really like anything Marlburian… |

Thanks for the report. My favourite period as well. Our Ramillies was an absolute disaster for the Franco-Spanish. Using Age of Honour rules. We are playing Oudenarde tomorrow for a second time. |

Thanks, chaps. @stecal: Matt did have to impose some significant modifications to make the BBB rules reflect cumbersome pre-Napoleonic linear warfare properly, but I think he succeeded admirably. @Royston: I hope I don't overdo it. I know for a while I pushed a bit too hard and annoyed some people, so I toned it down. I'm not trying to do a hard sell here – let's face it, it's pocket money, if I was doing this as a job the hourly rate would be terrible – I just want to spread the love for the period and show that it's possible to have big battle games that are good-looking, historical, fast and fun all at the same time. Other rulesets are available (and I play them too). I only post if I think I genuinely have something to say that will usefully interest, inform, amuse or otherwise entertain at least some of my readers, not just an excuse to plug BBB. |

Personally, hearing in mind I'm not your target Audience (or maybe I am if you are looking for converts) I think you are pitched just right. That said I never had an issue with you. I do tend to read your posts and the links as I find the period interesting and the games well presented. I think the number of people making full time lucrative career out of the hobby is probably less than 20,so anyone who makes the effort to support their product should be encouraged not vilified. |

Appreciated, thanks, Royston. |

For them as is interested, we fought Ramillies again this month. A hard-fought draw this time. Brief photo-AAR here (below a report of a Golan Heights tank battle): link |
