In the last several months we have sold 100s of 18MM Blue Moon Little Big Horn packs to various people around the globe? Just received another large one today. I have seen this phenomenon in the past and have always been able to connect it to a movie, TV, or book? Not this time?? Regards Russ Dunaway |

I suspect it's more to do with the release of the Pony Wars rules by Baccus. |

Well Im commission painting about 500 figures for a museum in Wyoming? So there is that. Its for a Battle of the Rosebud diorama they are setting up. And Im glad Blue Moon are easy to paint up and look great too. I'll be sure to post pics up when I can and also when their diorama is done. Cheers, Mar |

Mars Miniatures, indeed, but these are all over the globe. It may indeed be the PP rulebook. Russ Dunaway |

Mars Minis: If you can say, which museum? |
Mars Miniatures | 20 Aug 2022 12:48 p.m. PST |
@Saber6, I know its in Sheridan, but I dont know its actual name. |

We have sold more LBH Indians and 7th cavalry in the last several months then there actually were! Russ Dunaway |

Saber6, you probably heard The Museum at the Big Horns threw out the diorama they had. I had done some conversions for some portrait figures for that one for Tom Warneke. Tom contacted me recently for a source of figures other smaller than 15mm. As Baccus 6mm were all I could find for him, this may be Tom again, redoing in 15mm after all. There are not that many museums in Sheridan. Tom |

Tom, any idea why they threw out the old diorama? And what they did with it? |

"We have sold more LBH Indians and 7th cavalry in the last several months then there actually were!" That's setting the bar pretty low, Russ. Wikipedia says a total of 1,347 Tiger I's and 492 Tiger II's were produced. How many miniature versions do you suppose are purchased and painted up by wargamers in a typical year? Probably more with a new movie or rule set. |

Tom Warnke lived down the block when I first moved to Sheridan Master detail terrain builder. I wonder if the figured out it was a 'draw' and redid the models. As to what happened to them, I think it was the dumpster, many locals only found out after it happened. |

Robert, indeed, but my vast expierence tell me that WW2 is way more popular then plains war Indians. Russ Dunaway |

Saber6, how about that little trading post that had the dioramas in back ? is that place still there ? Been a long while <sigh> |

Oh, wait…that was Cody. has been a long wjile ! |

@Saber6, the man im in contact with for the commission is a man named Roger W. and he has mentioned the master terrain builder is a man named Tom. Roger is a fine gentleman and Im grateful that I can do commission work for good folks and especially a museum. Cheers, Mar |

Check photos from cons. That might be a clue. |

Throwing out Tom's diorama followed a change in management at the museum. Tom told me they gave him some ridiculously short time (I forget what) to move it. It was a freestanding wall unit with a beautifully painted background and a professionally made case. One could not put it in his living room. My recollection of what Tom told me agrees with Saber6 re the dumpster. They not only threw it out, but my understanding is they destroyed it in the process. Some people claimed there were inaccuracies. The Rosebud was a very complicated battle. I do not know this for a fact, but I think Tom did it so it showed a number of things happening all at once when in fact they were sequential. He would not be the first one to do that. Artist Gayle Hoskins did a painting of the Custer fight that was used on the dust jacket and endpapers of the original editions of The Custer Myth by COL W. A. Graham. It showed various actions of Custer's five companies all taking place in one painting. In my opinion, that management steered away from frontier history to some degree. I understand that there is new management now again. When Judy Slack was manager of The Wyoming Room at the county library, she had the diorama videoed shortly after it was installed. Tom |

Then it maybe for the Museum. I'll set my Librarian loose and get more details |

Here is a little more detail on the Museum: link |

Saber6, Let me tell you how far I'll travel to see a museum exhibit on government healthcare on the reservations. I can stop by the VA and get the "immersive experience." |
35thOVI | 23 Aug 2022 12:37 p.m. PST |
Honestly, reading the link, the museum description sounds boring. Flumes, information on the National Forest and governmental health care? Did I miss something? |
robert piepenbrink | 23 Aug 2022 4:51 p.m. PST |
Oh, no, 35th. Lectures on how 7th Cavalry recruits were immigrants the US treated poorly by not putting them on welfare are boring. Government health care--I can almost see the org chart from here--is about two grades past boring in the same direction. |

If it is still up, they have a pretty good display permanently on the Rosebud battle. Besides artifacts in cases, there is a kiosk with a large monitor and you can search for lots of info, photos and other illustrations. There is also a large diorama of main street Sheridan in the late 1890's or early 1900s that is fabulous. I have seen the permanent displays countless times. Due to the changes a few years ago that were getting away from frontier history, I have not been inside for a while. Maybe those permanent exhibits have gone the way of Tom Warneke's diorama. Tom |
