Do any of you do them? Maybe its playing the rules but I will have to try it. Was thinking about unformed infantry or even cavalry charging a company of artillery. Both attacker and defender will be unformed. Having you attempted this as a way of defeating artillery at minimum cost Thoughts please, thanks |

Been sometime ago but tried skirmish cavalry, don't think it worked. One dilemma I have is artillery actually unformed, think when it does get to actual hand to hand I rate them as such. But it's getting past the fire if coming from that front, flank of course is no problem. |

I seem to throw bad dice for the French! I wonder if I should throw twice or three times and average the results out? It wouldn't ready slow the game down. And at myage the mental arithmetic is good exercise for my brain! |

Die rolls are what they are, no do overs. I can't roll to get a charge to go home hardly at all, but for small arms can pick off artilleryman at long range |

Problem is that most of the cavalry that can go unformed aren't significantly higher than the artillerists. Often you are looking at a 50-50 roll with generic cav. So, no. I haven't done it but once or twice in 40 years of Empire. |
