Ok I note that if you score a hit you can then try for an additional bounce-through hit, but which unit suffers that hit? Example: the bombardment target was an infantry brigade in checkerboard formation with an unlimbered artillery company behind all within 12" of the initial target. Artillery firing were Mediums (Russian) so 8 guns out of 12 may fire bounce-through(I presume licornes like true howitzers cannot fire bounce-through) so 8x1x7=56.Throw results in hit but in which of the 7 ranks suffers the hit?

If possibly a few different units randomly pick 1 with a die roll. But in line with firing is the main factor.

You know I am not sure if licornes can't cause bounce through. In elevation they are not indirect fire exactly as a howitzer.

We just eye-balled it and picked the unit that was most directly in line with the gun model, IIRC.

Historically, Russian 'unicorns' could and did fire ball ammunition, unlike the shorter barreled howitzers of other nations. Yermolov at Eylau come to mind.
