I am about to pick up the paint brush on some long held RalPartha Gnolls and I alway like to hear what people have actually done.

Colors used, ideas, and organization.

I was looking at Hyenas for the color. I'm about to paint some for Rangers of Shadow Deep.

Gygax specified a greenish hue to their fur, in his 1977 1e AD&D Monster Manual. I went with a more traditional Hyena color scheme for mine: Photo1, Photo2. I went primarily with black leather clothing for them -- simple, effective, and in line with Gygax's description, I believe, aside from fur color. I like my results, of course. LOL! I used the lighter color clothing, to break them up, such that they were not all alike. I just realized they all need a matte clear coat… Cheers!

Primed brown, desert sand on the fur with black hyena spots, dark clothing, then dipped.

I'm planning on gray green hyena coloring as well. Looking on-line, and this may sound a little strange, I believe I will use the hyenas from The Lion King as a painting guide.
