Skittles are widely available in the UK and presumably elsewhere, manufactured to European food safety standards.

The European Union has banned the use of Titanium Dioxide in food, an ingredient which gives Skittles the bright colors.

I don't actually like sugar. I just eat Skittles for the titanium dioxide.

Same with cake frosting. The shinier the better.
