I am helping a friend teach the local group to play Napoleon's Battles. He tried doing Battle of Coruna but that was too unbalanced. So I am looking for a small battle between British and French that is pretty even that he can do.

Suggestions welcome. Thanks

PM me and I'll send some NB scenarios. If you have access to old copies of the Courier, there is a small NB scenario for the Peninsula, Villa Costa. 2 small French Corps vs 5 Divisions of Brit and Portuguese

Battle of Maida 1806.

About 6500 French and Polish
Just over 5000 British and Sicilians

Depending on how small he wants to go, Sahagun is pretty good. The Brits are outnumbered, but the French are green recruits. And, in the actual battle, poorly led.

Villa Costa…

A made up battle published in Avalon Hill's "The General".

I was designed to teach Napoleon's Battles.

I second the recommendation of Maida.

You don't need to do a real battle. Give each side a couple of infantry brigades, a cavalry brigade, and some artillery and have a meeting engagement.
