"The Pledge July 2022" Topic

We've passed the mid-point. Many in the Northern Hemisphere will be taking vacations. How are things progressing?

For me July is busy at work so despite my best efforts nothing was finished, August may not be much better. I bought nothing as well so things remain the same.

July was a bit busier but I still managed to get some stuff done, did larger figures again this month. Here are the numbers;

Back to doing 15s again for the rest of the year so the numbers will go back up.

July brought heatwave and rain, the rain allowed some good progress on (re)painting and basing my 1/72 French.

At last managed to slog my way to the end of the Baden paint conversions. Then i found that I had a battalion's worth of French infantry odds and ends from ESCI, Italeri, HaT, probably Revell and even a few Airfix, so tidied them up and finished them as well. The last of the French infantry (for the moment) were 2 battalions needing some command figures painting up and pompoms doing, oh and a brigade general. All in all a good month

In August I have 6 Bn of Duchy of Warsaw Poles to base. They shouldn't need too much work beyond a little czapka refreshment and adding some grenadiers. On the other hand I'll be away twice and have an application deadline. If the Polish infantry get finished, next step is 2 regiments of ESCI Polish Guard Lancers to paint convert to Duchy of Warsaw.

Finished 176 10mm Late Roman infantry.
Bought 0.
Primed – 30 10mm cavalry, 100 archers, 36 skirmishers. My target for August, plus finishing 76 more infantry. That will complete the first phase of the Late Roman army.
Then I have to decide whether to start the Sassanids, or work on more Visigoths.
No ordering new figs til the current bin is empty.

I spent half of July on vacation, off visiting our son. I don't try to drag my paints and brushes along on trips like this, but I do clean up figures and get them ready for painting. When I got back, we were having a heat wave, and painting under the lights was too warm during much of the day.
Still, in the second half of the month, I painted 20 figures. OK, many of these had been partially painted earlier, but I was kind of surprised to get so many done.
On the negative side, I bought 32 men and three horses. Actually, two of the humans were supposed to come in July, since they had to come all the way from Europe, but to my surprise, they arrived on the 25th. You know, it is very hard to complain about figures coming earlier than anticipated.

Still, for the year, I'm doing well.
Purchased: 86 men, 6 horses
Painted: 130 men, 6 horses
So, for 2022, I'm 46 figures ahead. I've even broken even on horses!

Zeroed out again for July. Things keep coming up. Summers are bad for me when it comes to getting things done.

On the bright side I didn't loose any ground since I bought nothing.
