"The Allies were massing their troops in southern Belgium, and Wellington and Blücher had once again assured each other of their support. The British army was concentrated at Nivelles (16 km south-west of Waterloo, 11 km west of Quatre Bras) and was to march against the Prussians via Quatre Bras (19 km south of Waterloo). The Prince of Orange was the closest to this most important crossroads with his country's troops, the Nassau and the Brunswick. But on June 15 Napoleon crossed the border of the Netherlands and pushed his way between the two armies. He sent Marshal Ney against this crossing. Since the Allied march was thus blocked, he could first attack the Prussian army separately at Ligny…" UT
