From: Starfleet Command, Starbase 17 To: Captain Gin-Luck, USS Crazy Horse NCC 2084 Subject: The Vengeance of Khan
Orders: Admiral Kirk has reported that the crew of the USS Reliant has been stranded on Ceti Alpha V. Kirk, in command of the Enterprise, had allowed Khan Singh to settle it with his people on stardate 3144, rather than be sent to a penal colony for trying to take his ship. On stardate 8130.4, Reliant was investigating what it thought was Ceti Alpha VI and encountered Khan, who swiftly took over the ship. In an act of vengeance against Starfleet for ‘stranding' him and his crew on a planet that later became harsh, he stranded a crew of Starfleet in return. You will debark your 250 M.A.C.O. and 70 of your crew at Starbase 17 for R&R; pick up a medical response team and unit, and go to Ceti Alpha V to rescue the stranded Reliant crew of about 300. They are likely in dire straits due to its harsh conditions and meager supplies. This is an emergency operation for which your Chandley class Frigate is suited. The Science vessel USS Dawkins is enroute to study the breakup of Ceti Alpha VI and should arrive while you are conducting operations, but be aware they could only take on a dozen passengers. The Genesis event has caused furor among other civilizations. Be on the lookout in case they are poking around the system.
- Admiral Pearson, sector 17.

Messsage to captain Sslee, Heavy cruiser MA-17 sharp claw:
CAPTAIN SSLEE, The humanss have developed a method of hatching planets that they will not sshare with uss. Thiss disshonorable action callss our alliance into quesstion. Obtaining the genessiss device iss vital to the gorn alliance, for our territory iss limited. You will go to the human SSTELLAR NEST ‘CETI ALPHA' where the 6th planet hass been shattered by our enemy, the orionss. Hide amongsst the assss-teroids, (record your location at start of game) examine them, and find out if they had a reassson. Do not allow any sshipss to sssteal anything of value in the field; you may use it to Convincce the federation to ssshare the genesssiss device with the gorn. You mussst find a way to honorably demand it if they decline. Failing that, consssider obtaining it dissshonorably, including invading and dessstroying the humansss.
fleet alpha male SShRON.

Communication from Tal Shiar to Commander T'annik, winged defender IRW DEVORAS
Commander, the Federation's planet-making genesis device is being fervently investigated. You are to travel deep into Federation space under cloak, to ceti alpha, where you must fully obtain it, if possible. The federation has ig`nored the system since the destruction of the sixth planet 15 years ago. Scan the rubble on the way in to the fifth planet. Discover everything you can; it will be combined with our secret agents' reports from Earth. Remember that our newest plasma device cannot be allowed to fall into enemy hands. Destroy any other races present IF there are secrets to guard; only the Romulan star empire can have the genesis torpedo.
Jo Lan Tru, Commander.

Captain's Log, stardate 8138.7
The Crazy Horse arrived in system near the field of rubble that was the remains of Ceti Alpha-6. Scans detected an unusual energy source from an unknown element.

A Gorn ship, lying in wait on one of the asteroids, appeared and fired point blank, dropping a shield, causing structural damage to us and 3% casualties. Our retaliatory phasers missed entirely due to our ship, per orders, not being fully crewed. The Gorn immediately contacted us, stating that it was an internal error, and threw one of their crew out of an airlock – presumably their former weapons officer. I deemed it too risky to lower shields and beam the individual abord; furthermore, Gorn honor might have been violated. We detected a deep scan from somewhere ahead; clearly there was a cloaked ship in the field. Keeping the Gorn in front of us, we both proceeded in the direction of the scan, which seemed to have scared up some Orions that were mining in one of the asteroids.

Contact with them was cordial; they stated that their mining of Dilithium would happily be sold to the Federation. They claimed no knowledge of the unknown compound we had detected in minute amounts. Yet their convoy split up as they left. The Gorn, highly suspicious, fired blasters at one of the heavy haulers, and missed.

The Science vessel USS Dawkins arrived, asking us what assistance they could give. Meanwhile, we beamed aboard a sample of what we determined to be Trilithium – an unstable product of uncommonly pure Dilithium. The Scientists aboard the Dawkins hypothesized that it was responsible for the explosion of Ceti Alpha-6 some time around stardate 3150. The escorted Orion Heavy went to warp. As a firefight is no place for a Science vessel, I ordered the Dawkins to warp in-system to Ceti Alpha-5 and beam down their only medical doctor and nurse.
The Orion Wanderer, meanwhile fired a torpedo and hit the Gorn, blowing down a shield. A second Gorn blast blew down the lone Hauler's shield.

Having not been asked for aid, and the stranded crew of Reliant being my primary concern, I left the cloaked ship, the Orions and Gorn to slug it out, in-system warping for Ceti Alpha-5 myself. The Second Orion Heavy warped out, and the Gorn ship left it to come to our aid. We shared our knowledge of the Trilithium with the Gorn. We detected nothing further from the cloaked ship; recommend we be reassigned to protect this field as the Federation sends mining ships for the unusually pure Dilithium.
We beamed all the surviving members of the crew aboard, with the Dawkins taking 12. But 70 of the Reliant crew had expired during their week of waiting for rescue. Khan Noonien Singh was directly responsible for their deaths in stranding them on that waste of a planet. Let the bodies residing in our cargo hold bear mute witness to the inhumanity of the genetically enhanced madman.

captain Sslee, Heavy cruiser MA-17 sharp claw:
The humans obviousssly could not sshare genessiss with usss. Our weaponsss officer, hoping to force a confrontation with the humanss, fired upon them without my order. I put him out the airlock; an honorlesss death. We were unable to catch the orionss before they left the ssysstem. We aided the humanss in rescuing their ssurvivorss on the planet, ssseti alfa five. They sshared knowledge of a newly disscovered element with uss, trilithium.

To Orion Privateer command:
While we luckily avoided detection by the Federation ship Reliant in their Ceti Alpha system, after the Genesis event, they sent more ships to look closely at the asteroid field. The unusually pure Dilithium that we have been exhaustively mining for 15 years was discovered. We protected our two heavy mining craft with our wanderer as they finish operations and escaped with full loads. We lost nothing, but had to agree to sell one load of very pure Dilithium to the Federation. A small price to pay for 15 years of pure profits.
Communication from Commander T'annik, IRW DEVORAS
the Federation's planet-making genesis device is nowhere in evidence in the system of ceti alpha. However, despite the presence of federation military and science vessels, three orions and a gorn, we went undetected and were able to secure three samples of an undiscovered crystal – trilithium. Our Scientists think it was responsible for the destruction of ceti alpha-six some 15 years ago. Due to our actions, There is none left in the asteroid field. I deemed it better to return to the empire with our very promising samples rather than risk losing them in battle against the other civilizations as we were severely outnumbered. The orions must have a sample, theyw ere mining for some time. It is unlikely the federation were clever enough to find anything themselves.
End of report

Nice FASA Trek collection. I'm working on some Klingons right now.

Fantastic write up, with a very well-thought and authentic script & actors.

It brings back fond memories of my ST: Tactical Combat Simulator board gaming. I had never seen the Chandley class Frigate in figure form: it looks fantastic. Thanks for sharing.
