I am about 70% through this book. It is an easy and interesting read, and it contains some good Pulp scenario fodder.

John Ringo's "Yellow Eyes" takes place around Panama, including the Darien area. It's a sci-fi book, but from his description and what little I just read about the Darien, it's not a nice place to wander around. Thanks for the link.
