I had my 1/72 WWII toys out of the cupboard again last week and this time we played through the Maeleme airfield scenario I wrote for the Battlefront WWII rules a few years ago. After a shaky start for the Germans it turned into a real nail-biter.

WOW! Is that a permanently set up board?

Beautiful…

Dave

Thanks, Dave. No, it's all modular, built up for the game. It was about a two hour build, based on the scenario terrain map.

Can't get much better than that! Your whole blog is outstanding.

Thanks, Big Red. Sharp eyes might note that my uniforms for both sides aren't right for Crete 1941 but my choices from my collection were either Mediterranean gear or late war and I love those Mediterranean Italeri German paras!
I did do up some RAF personnel for the compound, though, and contrary to common wisdom regarding newly-minted troops, they fought like Trojans!

Nice. I love seeing 1/72 figures on a table.

Hi Bill

Great report! Here is the actual bridge with hill 107 in the background taken in 2016:

Cheers Paul

Thanks fo this, Paul. That's very cool to see the actual bridge. I do seem to remember seeing before that it was a fairly simple trestle bridge, not nearly as elaborate as mine, but the valley and hill look very much the way I had imagined them to be – I feel like I know the terrain!
I see there is a more modern bridge to the right in your photo.
