Hello everyone, Please, I am looking for a rule for the colonial wars in general but dating from before 1976, do you know where to find it? Thanks! PasKal |

The Sword and the Flame is the go to game for many Colonial gamers. Cover Zulu wars to Sudan. |

The Sword and the Flame was first published in 1979. But why the 1976 watershed? |

Not sure about big battles, but I used The Colonial Skirmish Wargames Rules (1972). Still got my copy! link |

You might be thinking of 'Rules for Wargames The Colonial Wars' by TJ Halsall. The first edition has an orange cover iirc and the second edition has a British soldier and a Zulu on the front. |

Don Featherstone published a number of mimeographed rule sets in the late 1960s available through Wargamers Newsletter. The Colonial version had on the cover a scene showing Stanley Baker from Zulu. I found an on line version link |

Thank you all, I'm looking for a rules published before 1976, not after 1975 and for "25mm" miniatures. Please check the years of edition, thank you. @4DJones : But why the 1976 watershed? Because after 1975, it's too recent. |

You mean the last 50 years (or nigh on) of wargames rules is TOO recent? How long has this wargaming rule making been going on? |

The rule systems from before the appearance of the WRG in 1970 are more interesting, now it's the same for miniatures, the older it is, the better for me. |
