I need a sponsor to help my wife and I immigrate to Canada. My country is being taken over in a slow moving coup and has lost it's collective mind. Would a kind Canadian sponsor myself and my Wife. We can happily live in someone's basement. I have a huge collection of historical miniatures and terrain and will gladly run games for food. |

Please go. Rather than asking for a sponsor, be a man and work to pay your own way. |

Sorry, OC. You have to get in line behind all the people who promised to leave if Bush II were re-elected or Trump elected at all. Since I've yet to see one actually leave, evidently the paperwork takes a long time to process. |

I would love to sponsor you but we currently have an immigration backlog of 2.4 million people – apparently a lot of people have decided the Great White North is the place to be |

2.4 million waiting – we had 1.7 million crossing our southern border in the last 12 months without a wait. |

Canada has great people. Easily one of the friendliest countries in the world. I've personally never met a Canadian that was not welcoming and extremely personable. Yes, even in Quebec. 😉 As for some of the people running the show there, not so much. You have a hypocritical, black face wearing, sanctimonious trust fund baby tyrant who approved the freezing of personal bank accounts of those who didn't agree with him. Government thugs harassing and arresting religious leaders for conducting services. Funny how that only seemed to be happening at churches and not other places of worship. No US Constitution and no Bill of Rights. You might want to rethink that one. |

To be fair, Canada has i) a Constitution and ii) a Bill of Rights – there are some differences but overall fairly similar; as someone who was lived and worked on both sides of the border, there are a few things that do stand out – for example in Canada there is no such thing as the 5th Amendment, which makes it interesting when I am working with my police colleagues and someone says "I plead the Fifth" – to which the usual laconic reply is "wrong country – please answer the question, sir" |

Old Contemptible, it has certainly been that kind of year! From time to time, I've found myself thinking about Australia, which was a nice place to visit. Grelber |

Actually docile sheep sounds pretty good. |

Coming to the party rather late but to help clarify a few things from north of the border… Cardinal Ximenez… most of our Constitution protections lie in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Yes its different but it works for us. Frederick, to be fair no we have no 5th amendment but we do have section 5 of the Canada evidence act….which does much the same thing. |

Canadian courts are less inclined to protect fundamental rights as compared to the US courts unless you are queer or indigenous. I think you will find Canada very much like Vermont so if that is what you are looking for then by all means come. Personally, I have been thinking about moving South. Unfortunately, your health care system is prohibitively expensive. |
