Sadly, I agree with you. It is highly unlikely that the Russians would turn over any suspected war criminals for trial.

They were shot after they were captured. The guy was face down on the ground when they shot him three times. Twice in the head. That is a war crime. Same as shooting any prisoner. Yes there is the danger of correspondents being killed in a war zone, but many of these instances are deliberate attempts to kill them, not accidentally being caught in an artillery barrage or moving about a battlefield.

Wasn't there some organization that was looking into charges of war crimes that could be leveled against Russia? Seems like they would have enough evidence by now.

They may have been shot after being captured or may have been shot crawling away from the vehicle the people writing the report aren't experts.

journalists getting killed in war is an occupational hazard Very true … but if they are captured, they should not be executed. IIRC the GCs cover this ? Unless the narrative they are spies is pushed.
