Anyone here play I Ain't Been Shot Mum and Battlegroup? Which do you prefer? I have some experience in IABSM but the rules leave me wanting more. They aren't horrible at all, but armor rules seem kind of weak and the book is poorly laid out. |

Our group had the same experience with Battlegroup. It had some interesting ideas (the morale chit pull, treating air and artillery as random events) but somehow just never felt quite right, we kept house ruling things til we just moved on… |

… Moved on to what, EC? Just out of interest. |

I quite enjoy the older (2nd) Edition of IABSM, although I don't play much at that level (company) anymore. |

There is a very good Battlegroup page on facebook, the authors are on there all the time to answer questions. If you don't do facebook you can go here: link I tried numerous ww2 rules before i found Battlegroup and now its the only set i use. I'm strictly a solo gamer and Battlegroup gives me exactly what i was looking for in a game(easy to remember rules, historically based army lists, squad, platoon or company size games and it covers almost all the theaters of the war) Downside is the theater books frequently sell out and can be hard to find. |

Big fan of Battlegroup rules. Love the theatre books and smooth play. |

If you want rules that give more for armored action than IABSM, and still want to play a company or re-enforced companies per player, I would suggest taking a look at ODGW's Mein Panzer rules. odgw.com/home.html There is a tutorial on the rules showing a tanks-only game now being posted (ooh, almost live action!) by Captain Pete, who frequents this fora as well. link These are the rules I have selected after using many rulesets over a period of several decades. I like to push a fair bit of armor, but I also like combined arms action, and I like to be able to scale up gracefully to battalion-per-side or more as I add players to a game. These rules achieve all of that more gracefully than any others I've found so far. Your tankage may vary. -Mark (aka: Mk 1) |
