As part of research for my new book, and my 68th birthday, we went to the Royal Armouries Museum and Towton. While there we also visited Wakefield and the chantry chapel on the bridge. This is where the 1460 Battle of Wakefield took place with Edmund of Rutland being murdered by Lord Clifford on or near the bridge and chapel. The Duke of York died somewhere near the castle. A combined set of bridge and castle photos can be found here: link Please note that the bridge has been much widened since the Wars of the Roses. Picture three in the set is probably closer to the width of the original. Note also that the castle has been much bashed about and demolished. link link Barry |

@Games Poet: Thank you. My whole Wars of the Roses set is here: link It is not in historical order but rather the order in which I took the photographs. Barry |
