Hi,
I will be moving to Crawford county in the next couple of years and am curious as to which rules set and scale is predominantly used in the area.
Thanks in advance for the information.
Dave

Better tactic might be to state what scales and rules you are based for.

Ahh, I have some 1:72 scale. I am planning on doing 10mm, easier to do big games. I'm leaning toward Pickett's Charge or Black Powder. I haven't decided on basing yet. I like Fire & Fury as well.

I live in Trempeleau County which is about an hour north of where you'll be. Best bet is to find some locals who game and find out what they do once you're here. I haven't found many historical gamers but lots of sci Fi and fantasy gamers in La Crosse and Eau Claire. Easier to convert them to whatever you want to play.

My condolences.

Over near "the big city" (Milwaukee) 15mm on 1x1 is quite popular.

smithsco, what do you play? I don't mind driving. I have some 40k stuff, but not much of a sci-fi gamer anymore. I do love some Blood Bowl though.

Mr Elmo, love the country…. Less than 600 residents where we'll be. Better hunting than here and lots of out door things to do.

Have you joined the local HMGS chapter?

I used to play black powder in 1/72 but have divested of all my ACW and Napoleonics. Lack of interest from my group.

We play a lot of Spectre Operations for moderns and adapted it for WWII and Vietnam skirmish games. We play Kings of War for massed fantasy and pre-gunpowder historical.

I know there is a group of guys in Eau Claire that play Fire and Fury in 15mm.

rdblackmon9908 Jun 2022 5:35 p.m. PST

Haven't joined the chapter yet, I do the hmgs south cons, they are abiut 45 min from my house.
I'm planning on 10mm because I hope to do an N scale railroad set up, would make for great scenarios.
I have a plan in mind for a game table where I can have the train set inset and can put a table top over it for Napoleonic or ww2.
We play Flames of War for ww1 and 2. I like modern Spearhead micro armor for modern, but am up to try other things.

Eau Claire isn't too far to go, how might I contact them?

I appreciate all then information, I'm going to the hogs sight next.

I am in a suburb of Eau Claire and I have almost the whole Army of Northern Virginia and Army of Potomac in 15mm now. They are based for Fire and Fury, but I am open to any rules that are good for larger battles. I also have Franco Prussian, Crusades era, and many other Medieval period armies as well. My gaming area is "under construction" as I just moved last year to a new house. Lots of stuff is still unpacked.

No need for my help to connect. I was referencing Perris0707

Thanks!
We play Black Powder and learning Pickett's Charge. I want to do the Western Theater, so that could work out great. The beauty BP is basing doesn't matter as long as both sides are the same. I`m probably going to base for Fire and Fury because it's common. I do enjoy Fire amd Fury I was thinking about 10mm so I can do the battle of Chickamauga and that would be more compact. I'm building Prussians and French for Napoleonics in 15mm using Black Powder, but also want to try General de Armee. I have tons of Flames of War ww2, brits for ww1 amd Team Yankee. I'm a big fan of Federation Commander and Battletech. Shoot me an email at daveblackmonpm186@live.com and we discuss the area and gaming. We're heading up that way Monday for a couple weeks.
