A true turning point in history….and special remembrance for the heroism of Torpedo 8, Torpedo 6 and all the others who gave their lives to turn the tide. |

Midway was a battle the USN HAD to win, against a superior naval force in most respects. Luck, good intelligence and valour achieved a stunning victory for the United Nations. All involved… on both sides…deserve our respect and remembrance, especially those desperate torpedo and dive bombers who all, in their way won the day. |

I'm inclined to disagree that 'all involved' deserve our respect. After all, the Japanese executed captured Americans. Not to mention the fact they were fighting a war of conquest. My salute to the Americans at Midway and the Allies across the Pacific. |

Let us pause and stand amazed at the arrogance and foolhardiness of the Japanese, launching a surprise attack -- a sucker punch that wounded but did not destroy -- a nation whose main problems, for the preceding ten years of depression, had been millions of men with no work to do and thousands of factories with no goods to make. |

I think people are just referring to the Allied forces involved. |
