Just saw the movie in IMAX. It is a good bit a fun. The flying sequences were incredible. The story line was kind of campy, but it works. Highly recommended!

Thanks. Heard pretty patriotic. True?

Thresher0102 Jun 2022 5:34 p.m. PST

I enjoyed it as well.

Hmmm, not so much "patriotic" as definitely NOT anti-American like so much stuff is today.

F-14. Loved it!

Honestly it is not anti-patriotic, which is what passes for Patriotic in today's world. The movie is good but I can't say anyone ever even mentions America or Americans other than in a workman like everyday way like you'd encounter in the Military amongst actual units.

It's a good flick, and about an American military unit, but it is very neutral on politics, and the enemy isn't even mentioned by name- frankly much like the original.

It was an great way to spend an afternoon, and it took my mind off my problems for a couple of hours.

In short, it did what Hollywood USED to do on a regular basis – it entertained me.

I thought it was very patriotic.

He had the Taiwan patch on his jacket which China objected to. Kool. The enemy was Iran, doesn't matter what they didn't say. What other country has F-14 Tomcats sitting around.

Old, Contemptible, I'd be curious to know why you thought it was patriotic? What specifically made it so to you?

Lascaris04 Jun 2022 8:11 a.m. PST

I really liked the movie. There was some wonkiness, specifically the cloud of tomahawks and their speed vs the jets and the inclusion of the F-14 made Iran the only possible opponent and there are no locales near the gulf that would have terrain as depicted but otherwise it was a really fun movie.

Thanks again

Thresher0104 Jun 2022 2:15 p.m. PST

Yea, I agree with the inclusion of the F-14.

Though the snowy setting and mountains reminded me far more of North Korea, so perhaps they were hoping for a bit more ambiguity on that.

Tgerritsen

Like everything in the movie. Are you sure you saw the same movie?
