I cannot begin to imagine what that poor soul saw in his dreams for the past 70 years. Harold Billow now finally rests in peace.

I heard him speak once at a symposium of WWII vets. A quiet, soft-spoken man. He was one of many speakers and we didn't know exactly who he was or what experiences he had. He began by matter-of-factly describing his job with an artillery sound-location unit. How they located enemy artillery by using directional micro-phones. It was interesting, but not nearly as gut-wrenching or spectacular as a fellow who had barely survived a Kamikaze attack in the Pacific. But then suddenly his unit is at a little crossroads in Belgium and German panzers are attacking and all at once we realized just what unit this man had belonged to. OMG. You could have heard a pin drop in the room. May he finally find peace.
