If only you could run with no party affiliation. Not practical, you would need billions. I am not affiliated with either of the current "choices". It will take a new generation to reclaim our integrity. |

+1 dBerczerk regarding the signs. My job, before I retired, put me in contact with a number of sign companies and yes, they love those sorts of contracts. Of course the real boom times were back in the early 2000s when all the BANKS were changing their names constantly. Getting a contract for thousands of bank branches was a bonanza. |

Fort named after one of the poorer Confederate army commanders. |

At some point the name becomes more important to identify the thing it labels than its origin. IIRC for 70 years Fort Bragg has been identified with the US Army's airborne troops, who it is named after isn't really important anymore. |

"The new name pays tribute to Pfc. Roland L. Bragg, a World War II hero who earned the Silver Star and Purple Heart for his exceptional courage during the Battle of the Bulge. This change underscores the installation's legacy of recognizing those who have demonstrated extraordinary service and sacrifice for the nation." Look for more. Murvihill is correct. My dad went through Ft Lewis during the Korean War. I had no idea who it was named after, nor gave a d#mn. It was a name and meant something to the troops who went through it. Turns out it was named after Meriwether Lewis. I just looked it up and guess what!? 😳😮 He owned the S word. Shhhh don't tell anyone, the "offense Gestopo" must have missed it. |
