While many are watching what is going on in Ukraine, not much attention has been paid to what is going on in the Pacific lately.

This is my first attempt to post to a board after many years of lurking, and I hope that I am doing the link correctly. If not, please provide information on how I can do so correctly.

In this article from the gCaptain web site they discuss how China has militarized their merchant fleet, including the COSCO shipping line. It also discusses what is going on with the US merchant marine ships that the Navy would be dependent on in a war.

Scary. I wonder how $40 USD billion might have been better spent to help address the existential Communist Chinese threat. Unfortunately, our uni-party politicians have been bought and paid for.

@GrayBear – It's much much easier to launder foreign aid money to a country at war, with lax oversight requirements, back to congresscritters and special interests in various lucrative ways – than a standard defense contract, eh? Ya get more bang for your buck.

And now imagine the PLAN slips some of these little beauties into some special storage locations in ports they control, or onboard their cargo ships…

They've had a militia navy for quite some time.

ALL Chinese citizens are subject to helping the country with anything needed, and those working or being educated in foreign countries are expected to spy and support the PLA's desires whenever and wherever required.

If they don't do that, their travel visas may be rejected, or much, much worse.
