I've gotten my first Minifig Napoleonic howitzer. It has a sprue of tools, ammo crate, etc. On the sprue are two tiny donuts. They look like they might fit over the axle, but no because the hole is too small. I'm not sure where these go.

I think they are supposed to the the outer hubs for the wheels. You may have to enlarge the holes to make them fit.

I think ColCampbell is right, espeially if they have two small protusions on either side like a split pin – see:

Thanks, this is good info. Great photo! Mine don't have the pins protruding, but I can't see what else that would be. Will try to drill them a little.

An operational question. Would the gun crew have removed the chest suspended between the trails before firing?
