A friend of mine sent me this email and link showing a catastrophic Russian tank explosion.

So I would hear tales of T-72 turrets flying off "hundreds of feet into the air" from Gulf War I Vets. And I would nod politely thinking I was hearing how a fisherman's fish gets bigger, ya know? Just good ol Vet to Vet dramatic exaggeration.

So I'm not rudely disbelieving, I've seen the pictures, but the idea of a 17 – 20 ton turret flung hundreds of feet straight up? Naw, it blew off maybe tens of feet landing to the side of the hull.

I owe these Vets an apology…. 😯😮😯😮

Which melody do the musical clocks of russian tanks play, when they cook off into Jack-in-the-Box?
Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor?

Or is it something russian?
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky – Hymn of the Cherubim

Ah nah, can't be Tchaikovsky.
Not on their way to hell.

I feel the gravity of the three men in the tank dying here isn't being reflected here.

This may be the video

filmed by Chinese state media channel Phoenix News as they were heading to the Azovstal Steel Plant so behind the Russian lines.

That video could be set to the later part of Tchaikovsky's 1812 overture

Optional field; when you start a war you will pay a price. I wish this war would stop & Russia return to it's own borders but they won't.

This result is to be expected when you use an auto loader system that stores the ammo under the turret deck.

+1 optional.

The war is terrible. Lots of great people, both Ukranian and Russian, are dying for one mans ego trip.

"The young Alexander conquered India.
Was he alone ?"
Bertold Brecht

And, the poor russians could just turn their tanks and head to moscow.
But then again, then they couldn't loot washing machines, could they?

Moral 'Middle Ground Fallacy'

Never would've thought I would ever use a communist writer, poet and propagandist to defend the truth.

IIRC, one major T72 flaw is that the rounds are stored in a carousel under the turret, and crew. If an enemy shell or missile penetrates the carousel, the turret flies off.

The question is, why the russians, and the Sovs before them, didn't adress the problem decades ago like say the US with the Abrams, the South Koreans with the Black Panther or France with the Leclerc?
Higher survivability of the crew through ammunition storage outside the turret, blow-out-compartments etc?

A question that brings me back to the morality of making fun about cooked russian tankers, brought up here.

Plain and simple.
The russians care less about them than me.
And I already give a Bleeped text about them.

So, if you feel sorry for poor, poor russians, make sure that they get out of Ukraine as soon as possible, so they can live long and prosper.
For example by giving Ukrainian Chefs everything they need to cook the russians alive in their tanks as long as they care to get lost there.

Bon appétit.

I say it again and again, those russian fools can't fathom what they have awakend.

Russian troops have exhibited barbaric, uncontrolled criminal conduct during this war. Widespread and well documented. This is their choice. It is a grim business to stop them, not easy to think about, can't think about their fate too much.

I once overheard my father talking about his combat experiences in WW2. He said he was nervous until the shooting started and then a sort of rage took over and he did what he had to do with no hesitation. It was a little scary to hear.He was never a violent man that I could see. He said they were shooting at him and he got mad in a hurry. I think of the Ukrainians and their families, their homes.

Russia's army, not just Putin, is a menace to men, women, and children in Ukraine. Killing soldiers to stop them from killing, raping , torturing, civilians and destroying an entire country is a moral imperative here. I won't shed a tear for these guys but I don't feel any levity about them dying either. I just hope that their deaths help end this war sooner.

Pop a top again should become the Ukrainian Army song.

cj177613 May 2022 8:19 p.m. PST

The Ukrainians refer to blown off Russian turrets as "lollipops".
