% Chance That We Are Living in a Simulation?

Average result: 13.04%

A simulation of what?

Heretic.

And I thought it was all a dream within a dream.

The mind simulates what it thinks is reality with the tools is has on hand.
There are no colours outside the mind, just electro-magnetic fields.
A theory by the way that is part of the world simulation in the mind, corresponding to some observations and measurements.

So, in a sense humans live in a simulation, it's the human condition.
Living in the doll house of their brains.
Probably the reason why humans love to play with toys.

And not to forget, the idea that there is an objective reality outside of it is also an, albeit plausible, idea inside the mind.

Whether the idea, that objective reality outside our minds is also a simultion in another mind or machine is, of course, a whole other question…

But perhaps it's not a simulation – just a game?

I don't think the arithmetic mean of those survey results is a meaningful number.

Also, someone needs to develop a really good way to define the difference between a "real" reality and a simulated reality. Most of what we experience is an illusion created by our minds from sensory input. And if you wanted to simulate a specific universe wouldn't building that universe be a good way to simulate it?

Nope, if the espousers of this theory want to do more than fail at sounding clever they have some work to do.

"survey results is a meaningful"…anything

As a friend of mine just said to me, "if we're in a simulation I want the 800 number to file complaints".

An 800 number? I'd want the cheat codes!

(I'd also like to replay some of the levels I was on. I think I could do better than the first time… ;-)

I predict within 20 years they'll be able to 'grow' an extinct organism from scanned DNA within a virtual reality environment. Such clones won't actually be 'alive', per se, but we'd know what they looked like…

Howabout a simulation where I completed all my miniatures and models and now just have to worry about playing enough games.
