IMO there will be more of this the longer the Russians are in the Ukraine. As their losses increase, and morale go down more & more.

My thought is that as it appears the war is about to change to put Putin at the disadvantage he will ask for a cease-fire to save civilian suffering.
He will then hold a referendum and 95% of the voters in occupied territory will vote to become part of Russia.
He will then rebuild his army so he can start again in 5 or 10 years.

Yes, they want their territory back, they don't want to let the Russians hold on to anything.
