A friend asked if he could purchase one of my painted Iron Wind Metals Dwarven Ram Cavalry figures -- he gave one of his away, and he needs to replace it. It took me 20+ years to paint mine… I opted to order two 3-packs, selling one of the bare metal figures to him, adding five more to my army. If he does not pick it up soon, I will add six Dwarven Ram Cavalry to my army! Here is a photo of the finished, veteran Dwarf Ram Cavalry, alongside the primed recruits. These are all the same, Iron Wind Metals, Dwarven Ram Cavalry figures.
I have always wanted to run battles between the smaller races: Dwarves and Gnomes against Kobolds, Goblins, and Orcs. These races typically all use Short Bows, and when they fight against Humans and Elves, with Longbows, the Shorbowmen get chewed up before they ever come within firing range with their Short Bows!
I have a Goblin army of 200+ figures; an Orc army of 50+ figures, which are both painted and have been bloodied multiple times on the tabletop. I have an army of 50(?) Kobolds, which are 80% painted.
I have a Mountain Dwarf army which is 95% painted, and bloodied; I have a Hill Dwarf army of 50+ which are 20% painted; and I have a Gnome army of 50+ figures which were all painted -- until I bought 15 Spearmen to add to the army . Here is a photo of the veteran Gnomes, standing amidst the primed recruited Spearmen figures. These are all Essex miniatures, from the UK.
It seems as though I never have enough figures for any army (except the Goblins, and Undead…)! The good thing is that in a recent BS game, I needed many more Dwarves than I had, so I pressed the Gnome army into service as Dwarves. Only I recognized them as Gnomes -- everyone else thought they were Dwarves.
My Hill Dwarves are 1/72 scale (using that very loosely…), so they are shorter, and smaller of stature than my Mountain Dwarf figures. I will be able to interchange my Hill Dwarves with my Gnomes, quite easily, thus augmenting both the Dwarf and the Gnome armies, as necessary. Cheers!
