I see there is an IJN Medium Grey color in Vallejo's Model Air range, but would like to know if there is a Vallejo Model Color equivalent? The Vallejo Model Air reference number is 71.312. I've looked on-line with numerous searches, but haven't found a good color conversion chart between the Model Air and Model Color paints. I'm not using an airbrush, so suspect the Model Color paint might be preferable for applying with a brush. Thoughts? |

I think you are correct. I believe Model Air is thinner |

Depends on what you are painting. I brush the Model Air paints often when painting 1/300 aircraft. You probably would not want to brush them on large figures. |

Thanks for the tip. I've heard they can be pretty thin, so wasn't sure they were suitable for brush application. Do you need to apply multiple coats to get complete coverage? |

Yes, multiple coats brushed on, but the base color (light vs. dark) will decide how many coats. Model Air works fine with brushing and dries pretty fast for the next coat. |

I just posted a color chart for use with Vallejo paints for WWII Naval and aircraft colors. Hope this may help Thresher01 and anybody else who might find it useful. link |
