Hi I am just wanting a little clarification on something – is the ruleset "Revolution and Empire" the latest iteration of Empire? does it contain a campaign system? i saw that there was a separate campaign box for the 3rd edition but what of the later editions? |

Revolution & Empire was/is an offshoot of Empire with a number of major differences including mechanisms for calculating artillery and small arms fire and casulties which its authors say are more accurate. The rules are more complicated than Empire but worth looking at if you are new to historic bases rules.I bought a copy but am old and set in my ways so stayed with Empire V but incorporated some elements of R & E into my own Empire house rules. May be worth waiting a tad longer as a entirely new edition(s) of Empire is in course of being compiled and play tested at the mpment. See earlier posts for more details. |

thanks for the replies, so there is no campaign material in revolution and empire then, which is fine i am just curious. I am indeed curious about Empire as it seems such an important system in the history of napoleonic wargaming |

Hi sorry I didn't reply to your question as to campaign rules. Yes there was an Empire Campaign system published to work along side Empire III. Maybe part of the new Empire 7 mentioned above might incorportate an overdue Campaign system. |

No Georg, Revolution and Empire has no campaign system included with it. As far as I am aware the Empire Campaign system was not updated alongside Empire IV or Empire V as they were released. It is nevertheless still usable with the later versions of Empire (the battle rules). Welcome to the board :-) |

Scott has indicated that there will be a campaign system with Empire 7. When I find the reference to it, I will post it here asap. |

From May 18, 2021 posting on a Facebook Empire group. "The E7 project is a massive one that includes, as already mentioned on this forum, five various casting scales which carry with those scales different levels of tactical representations, exhaustive army specs relative to the different levels of representation, a new campaign system being developed by Kip Trexel, and much, much, much more." Scott will keep us posted on the development of Empire 7 as it progresses. Regards, Steve |
