Assange exposed war crimes. US war crimes. He went to jail and cannot get out.
What war crimes ? His actions put US and other troops in danger. He should never get out of jail. In the old days he would have been shot against a wall.

about how he is lead to the rostrum to make a speech rambles about his grandpappy, randomly starts shouting. Then sh---- himself, falls over and cant find his way off the stage.
Oh wait…. thats the wrong world leader,
And yes he is not a good leader, and many are suffering for it. In the US and elsewhere … But again the tactic is used to change the topic. When there is no accurate way to respond to the original discussion.

Tell the cat not to go near any Asian restaurants. It may end up as the special on the menu. FWIW – in 22 months in the ROK with a forward deployed Mech Bn. I never saw a cat … 🔪🙀🍖

They do taste nice with onions I must admit.
Ok, back on topic. Russia has lost the war, all the evidence to the contrary is imaginary.

Yes I posted similar to that article on another thread here. Seems to me the Ukrainians have go above and beyond to eliminating the Russian that invaded their territory. We can't stop supporting the Ukraine. They have done so much damage to the Russian Forces. We can't let that go to "waste".

the hill is typicaly US anti war defeatism. Clearly with the Trump issues the US has "lost it" completely. while Euraope is gearing up. This is proabably the end for US imfluenbce in the world. After the Afganistan debarcle nobody will tust them. They go Ukraine to dump nuclear weapons in return for peace. What they got was defeat. The US are nolonger a reliable friend.

SBminisguy16 Dec 2023 10:44 a.m. PST

Clearly with the Trump issues the US has "lost it" completely. while Euraope is gearing up.

LOL! Trump browbeat the NATO allies into starting to meet their defense spending obligations since Uncle Sam burdened the bulk of European defense for too many years.

You remind me of a passage from Arthur Conan Doyle's 1895 action novel "The Tragedy of the Korosko" in which a tourist steamship on a Nile river trip is hijacked by jihadis. Some of the other tourists are complaining about Britain being everywhere and one of the British characters replies:

"There are a good many Englishmen who are asking themselves that question," remarked Cecil Brown. "It's my opinion that we have been the policemen of the world long enough. We policed the seas for pirates and slavers. Now we police the land for Dervishes and brigands and every sort of danger to civilisation. There is never a mad priest or a witch doctor, or a firebrand of any sort on this planet, who does not report his appearance by sniping the nearest British officer. One tires of it at last. If a Kurd breaks loose in Asia Minor, the world wants to know why Great Britain does not keep him in order. If there is a military mutiny in Egypt, or a Jehad in the Soudan, it is still Great Britain who has to set it right. And all to an accompaniment of curses such as the policeman gets when he seizes a ruffian among his pals. We get hard knocks and no thanks, and why should we do it? Let Europe do its own dirty work."

A lot of Americans are feeling the same way -- why should American and spend our lives and treasure as the global cop? Time to let you deal with your own baggage, eh? YOU can face down Putin, so, good luck with that!

Unless you are willing to fight for it…. Right now we have only given enough to keep Ukraine in a stalemate. But we are on the road to giving Putin victory.

This could easily begin undermining the global balance of power and put China in a dominant position by default. It threatens Europe directly and weakens NATO, leaving Putin to contemplate new adventures. And … it makes us look like we just threw in the towel on our own principles.

Punching bag POTUS is now joined by another branch of government controlled by people who believe child-like oppositional defiance and governance are the same thing. The end result is no results on anything, the plan for the next election.

Unless you are willing to fight for it…. Right now we have only given enough to keep Ukraine in a stalemate. But we are on the road to giving Putin victory.
That has been the facts since Day 1. The US leadership had slow walked all the support to give the Ukraine the ability to "win" … E.g. M1s in large numbers, F-16s, CE mine/clearing vehicles, etc. should have all there and more should have been there 6-8 months on the ground in Ukraine after the initial invasion.

But as we see, the weak, feckless US Admin is so risk adverse, for fear of escalation they have become impotent. As we see not just in the Ukraine but allowing Iran's proxies to fire at our soldiers in Syria and Iraq. The Houthis are now the "pirates of the straits of Hormuz". With no real US retaliations. With all the USN & USAF firepower in the region. That the leadership is afraid to use.

The US firepower in the region could have removed the proxies off the table. As well as hit Iran's military, oil infrastructure, nuke sites, etc. Putin and Iran know that with the current weak, etc. US leadership. They can do what they want and are …

What next ? I shudder to think …

E.g. the USA is being invaded by 10-12 million illegal aliens … they know they better get here now before new more competent leadership is in charge. With the border being closed and illegal aliens rounded up and sent back to wherever. And even then millions will still escape being deported.

And Mexican Authorities and US Border Police intercepted ten IEDs at the US-Mexico border. How many have already made it into the US? How many Hamas/Hezbollah Iranian terrorists and agents have walked across the border already? Team Biden's Open Border policy designed to import a vast new dependent voting class comes with major social/economic consequences and poses a huge national security problem.

Yes I agree all that is true … All the American citizens dying from drugs, etc., that come across the open border. They don't count ? Along with criminals, terrorists, sex traffickers, etc. that pose a real threat. That are using the illegal aliens as cover. Classic guerilla warfare. Mao – "Swim among the fishes"[paraphrased]…

So, I guess all those that die trying to cross the border, raped or killed by the cartels and gangs, plus all the US deaths. They must not count ?

Yeah, since Day 1 the Russians have not demonstrated that they can fight modern warfare. They try to make up their incompetence by throwing more bodies into the meatgrinder.

Gunny B12 Jan 2024 3:55 p.m. PST

It's not pretty Legion, but after reading ISW's summary on Russia recruiting and unit rotations (much improved from summer 23) this bloody tactic may get them the win in the end. Or at least a negotiated peace where they keep Crimea and other Eastern areas of Ukraine.

Tango01 Supporting Member of TMP12 Jan 2024 5:10 p.m. PST

Could it be that in the 21st century the Russians maintain their total surrender of their lives to the whims of their leaders?… Is there a possibility that this bloodbath will mobilize those who have tasted a little civilization?… where is there so much in life to do and earn and not die like flies as the recent videos show…?

Armand

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP12 Jan 2024 5:49 p.m. PST

Or at least a negotiated peace where they keep Crimea and other Eastern areas of Ukraine.
At this point I believe that is their plan. They tried taking all of Ukraine and about a few months later they were not gaining much ground. But losing it. And taking high losses.

Now Putin will continue to attack until the Ukraine can't take anymore losses. Then a brokered peace with Russia will occur, and yes in this peace Russia gets to keep Crimea, the Donbas, the land bridge to Crimea and a few other bits.

Setting up for another invasion in 5-10 years.

Could it be that in the 21st century the Russians maintain their total surrender of their lives to the whims of their leaders?… Is there a possibility that this bloodbath will mobilize those who have tasted a little civilization?…
Sadly that may be correct. Since we are in the 21 Century does not necessarily mean the Russians under Putin are. IIRC, Russia took more losses than any other nation involved in WWII. Seems it may be in their culture to die in large numbers for the Motherland.

Tango01 Supporting Member of TMP12 Jan 2024 11:21 p.m. PST

But Ukranine is NOT their motherland…

Armand

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP13 Jan 2024 11:39 a.m. PST

Yes, it is no longer under Russia's boot. Like many of the former WP nations. They didn't like being under commie control either. That is why many joined NATO. Even Finland just joined NATO recently. They have an 800 mile border with Russia and a "history" with the commies. They are not taking any chances with KGB Putin. And again it seems the Russians keep throwing their poorly trained and poorly motivated troops into a meatgrinder.

Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian13 Jan 2024 11:56 a.m. PST

And again it seems the Russians keep throwing their poorly trained and poorly motivated troops into a meatgrinder.

Can you call them "poorly motivated" when the soldiers keep making suicidal attacks?

UshCha Supporting Member of TMP13 Jan 2024 1:25 p.m. PST

Editor in Chief Bill , If you mean go forward and be killed or go back and be killed by your own side who shoot those who retreat. That might be called "motivation" but you will not and do not get good results, just very high war widow payments for the next 40 years.

Au pas de Charge13 Jan 2024 2:33 p.m. PST

The Russian army is not poorly trained. It is a professional army and they are fighting like a professional army.
