Any up to date news on the next editions of Empire especially if there is a Divisional sized rule set as part of the whole? |

Scotty has had some personal issues that have delayed things. We're getting together with him in August and hope to start serious playtesting. |

"The new E7 will have different ground scales, different time scales, different casting scales, etc., based on what level of Napoleonic conflict the players involved are portraying. There are the "army command" level rules, where the player is controlling multiple corps (like an army wing commander), or the entire army in the case of smaller battles such as, say, Rivoli or Quatre Bras. Then there are the "corps command" level rules, which are, in essence, the updated and improved E5 rules whereby one player ideally commands one corps. The next level is the "division command" rules designed for each player to control one division; this-level is ideal for re-fighting a small portion of a battle. Finally, there is the "regimental command" level whereby the gamer is involved with petite-tactical action on a detailed level. Four different command levels. Four different books/sections of rules involving different ground/time/casting scales, all tied together with a commonality of terminology, of play sequence and of fire/combat resolutions, and all backed up with the organizational data/details needed to compete at each level. There are counters in the rules similar in some broad respects to the counters used in EMPIRE 3 through 5, but with much different detail that are essential to playing any of the command levels. All the books/binders, charts and counters will come in a sturdy, deep and handsome box similar in respect to editions 3 through 5. " This is an excerpt from a Feb. 2021 posting on the Facebook group: The Alan D. Simmons Empire Napoleonic War Game Rules Discussion Forum. To the best of my knowledge, this is still the plan as to the scope of the Empire 7 rules set. I received a message from Scott lately that he is still hard at work on the entire project. |
