I'm looking into making a 20mm Egyptian style "the undead legions" army for Saga fantasy and want to make some "mindless" units made up with scarab beetle's. ideally I'd like as many beetles on each 25mm base as possible!
However if I can get
2 or 3 on each base I'll be happy with that.
I'm looking at having 2 units so will need to make up 40 base's and don't really want to spend to much money on these units (whatever that mean's)
The bulk of this army will be made up with dark alliance Anubis army set

And mummies

Any other sujestions welcome 20,28mm Egyptian style monsters would be interesting but the whole project rests on the availablity of the scarabs.
Oh and i live in the UK so I'll be suffering this Brexit nonsense.

You might try your local craft store for xxs scarab beads. You can get them relatively small

The least expensive actual models that I found were $1.50 USD/base,

I think someone makes bases with scarab beetles sculpted on them.

Check Reaper Miniatures. They used to small stands covered in scarab beetles. I have a bunch of them.

I'm very fond of Black Cat Bases' scarab swarm: link . A single moulding with *dozens* of beetles on it; paints up very nicely.

Black Cat Bases has had some delivery issues due to (I believe) ill health, but I've always received my orders in the past without enormous delays.

Thanks for the input guy's
I was coming to the conclusion that I'd have to spend more on these levees than on the rest of the army put together!
When I came across these critters

What's great about these guys
Apart from the price is that I reckon I'll be able to fit 5 of em on a 20mm slots base, the same size as the humanoid's will be based on.

Those look perfect for your needs.

Yes better than I hoped, for the price.
Your beads idea was ingenious by the way.
